This private tour offers you the opportunity to discover and enjoy the sceneries of lavender, sunflowers… and the charming villages of two magnificent regions of Provence: the Regional Natural Reserve of the Luberon and the Plateau of Valensole.

Let’s begin this Provence tour by exploring the Luberon Natural Park with its hill-top villages and beautiful landscapes. We’ll visit the renowned village of Gordes, which is one of “the most beautiful villages in France”. Built on top of a rock, the village offers a wonderful view over the Luberon valley. The history of this village goes back to the Roman time when it was a very important Roman oppidum. Gordes can boast about having been able to keep its authenticity with its narrow cobbled streets, beautiful stones houses, its castle… and in having kept its traditions.

You’ll enjoy the Notre Dame de Sénanque Abbey, an architectural jewel of 12th century Cistercian art surrounded by sumptuous lavender fields. This monastery is still inhabited by a small community of Monks who grow the lavender in the old way.

Then, this excursion will lead us to the picturesque village of Roussillon, well-known for the rich ochre deposits (clay earth pigment). Built on an ochre cliff and surrounded by numerous ancient ocher quarries, it is listed amongst the “the most beautiful villages in France”. You’ll tour this Provençal village and enjoy the bright colors of its houses, little streets and squares… made in different shades of the ochres colors.

A scenic drive along the Luberon mountain will allow us to reach a very large plateau at 600 m high, called the “Valensole Plateau”. We’ll drive around this beautiful countryside and will do many stops to make you enjoy this colorful “Ocean” composed of lavender fields in bloom, fields of wheat and sunflowers.

We’ll finish our private tour in Provence with Valensole. You’ll adore the authenticity of this “Haute Provence” village located in the middle of the Plateau of Valensole.

We’ll stop in a lavender farm during the tour where you’ll appreciate the relaxing fragrances of the lavender products.
